I don't always have answers

When we protect people, we try desperately to hide our own weakness, for their sake. We put on a brave face, and pretend that we are omnipotent. We act like we know everything, and provide the answers as best we can.

But sometimes we cannot.

I am sorry, but I do not always have the answers. Sometimes, the big speeches and promises of protection aren't enough, but they're all I know how to give.

I don't know what to say if you're facing suicide. I don't know how to comfort someone who feels they've failed a friend. I am only one man, and I know so little about this world.

Sometimes, the best I can give is not enough. That does not mean I will refuse to give it, but it does mean that I can only do so much. 

That is why I want you to be strong. I want you to be able to stand on your own, and face the day without anyone to lean on.

Because sometimes, I can't be there. And I'm sorry for that.
